Mannie Garcia

Mannie Garcia is a Mint Press contributor who is an award-winning freelance photojournalist and independent video producer based in Washington, D.C. He has covered several wars, the White House, Congress and a variety of other stories in his long career. His most recognized photo, the Obama "Hope" photo, is one of the most recognized images in the world. Mannie’s work has been recognized by his peers with a Gold Medal from the World Press, POY/NPPA Award of Excellence, the Ernst Hass Award and the 2006 IPC White House NPA Leadership Award presented to him at the United Nations.
